Travertine naturally has small cavities. Filled travertine has these pores filled and polished or honed for a smooth surface, ideal indoors. Unfilled (brushed) travertine keeps the natural pitting for a rustic, anti-slip texture suited to outdoor and pool areas.

Technically Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral-rich hot springs, but it is grouped with marble commercially. The variety we supply comes from the famous quarries near Tivoli, Italy — the same stone used in the Colosseum.
